Fifth Season

Fifth Season
Fifth Season is an orange wine which encapsulates ripe, sun-kissed fruit from the 2022 vintage and gentle élevage in amphorae and oak barrels. The 2022 vintage boasted a warm, dry spring, followed later by a gorgeous Indian summer. After optimum hang time, harvest was on the 4th of October resulting in intense aromatic fruit. The grapes were macerated for 10 days in amphorae and fermented by indigenous yeast before pressing, then returned to clay for a further 12 months, or a ‘fifth season’. The wine then rested in neutral French oak barrels for 3 months prior to bottling.

TASTING NOTES
Tasting wine is an individual experience, no two notes could ever truly align.
At our first tasting of the Fifth Season we captured the following notes:
Guava, grapefruit zest & mandarin peel. Darjeeling like tannin with bracing acidity.. Wild fermentation, long skin maceration and ample lees contact give this wine its unique texture. Served ice cold it’s like a long Negroni!
We love it with Spanish style tapas or simply a good wedge of Comté!
