Our Story

From 2006 - 2009 Castlewood Vineyard emerged from a south-facing Devon hillside over looking the river Axe. This steady progression enabled traditional sparkling wine varieties to be trialed and planted. Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Pinot Meunier represent three quarters of the vineyard, each responsible for the our vintage sparkling wines Non classic varietals represent the rest, providing fruit for blending and development of our Reserve and NV sparkling wines.

In 2016 a further 2Ha of Bacchus vines were planted. The grapes from Block HH, the steepest most exposed hillside, are used for our Devon Minnow still wine. The remaining parcels and any further pressings are used for the Artefact and still Rosé wines.

We maintain the quality from our pocket of just a few thousand vines by only picking the ripest fruit. These deliver the optimum flavour profiles for our exclusive still and sparkling wines. The vineyard is owned and managed by ourselves, the Corbett Family. Throughout the growing season we meticulously tend to the vines, then call in the labour of extended family and friends for the harvest; everyone eagerly anticipates the coming vintage and their free wine as payment.

Each year, the harvest from our boutique vineyard is enjoyed in the form of our annual wine festival. See the festival.
